More discipline
I HAVE BEEN A PERSONAL TRAINER AND COACH FOR OVER A DECADE. THAT IS A LONG TIME TO HEAR A LOT OF EXCUSES.
In the early days, only a small amount of my clients would accomplish what they set out to achieve. I would sit them down and talk about and set realistic goals. This is what you get taught to do in the personal training courses.
What they do not teach you is that most people who set these small goals are only in the zone to achieve their goals whilst in the gym. As soon as the client leaves the gym they walk into a coffee shop, order a frappuccino with a slice of cake, and the next time you see them there ask you why they are not losing weight.
Work, family, weddings, holidays, stress, bad days at work….even good days at work, we are programmed to reward ourselves with food, Whether to make ourselves feel better after a bad day or reward ourselves for doing something good, socializing with friends. All roads lead to food and drink.
As personal trainers and coaches, people think it’s our job to fix these things, and if their goals aren’t achieved they look to blame us first.
WE ALWAYS LOOK TO BLAME OTHERS BEFORE LOOKING IN THE MIRROR.
Real changes come from within and you can’t pay someone to make those decisions for you.
Once you realize this and come to the conclusion that changing your body composition is a full-time job and not a task you can delegate to someone else just because you pay for it, you will be ready to start your journey. Once you have achieved this, go to a personal trainer for HELP, because that’s all they can do, help. Help you plan and help you make smarter choices and move correctly. Whether it’s moving weight in the gym or mending your body to be functionally better.
As a coach, I now pick and choose who I work with and now I can say nearly all of my clients are hitting their goals and improving their strength and health.
